Old Dominion have selected their next single. Readers can press play below to hear and see the lyric video for "Written in the Sand," the second single from the band's sophomore album, Happy Endings.

"Written in the Sand" is a mellow, reflective tune that questions the future of a relationship. The accompanying lyric video plays out like a text conversation investigating the possibility of a love destined for either for greatness or a quick ending.

"Turn me on, turn me off, then you turn me back on by the weekend / And you won't say the words that I want, but you flirt when you're drinkin'," the lyrics of "Written in the Sand" say. "I see those bubbles pop up like you're texting, then they disappear / Let's cut through the s--t then / Let's get to what we're doing here."

The vibe of the chorus of "Written in the Sand" is more comfortable than the questions posed: "Are we just a backseat, tryna get it while we can? / Are we names in a tattoo or just a number on a hand? / Are we last-call kissing or will we be reminiscing with each other for the next 40 years? / Are we written in the stars, baby, or are we written in the sand?"

"Written in the Sand" follows Old Dominion's first Happy Endings single, "No Such Thing as a Broken Heart."  The album was released on Aug. 25.
