Welcome to the fourth annual Golden Boot Awards! The Boot’s fan-voted digital awards, the Golden Boot Awards will, in 2017, feature 10 categories of staff-selected nominees who made waves in the country music world between May 2016 and April 2017. Readers can vote for their preferred winner in each category as often as once per hour through 11:59PM ET on June 4. We’ll announce the winners on the site the following Monday (June 5).

The New Artist of the Year category in the Golden Boot Awards is certainly one of the most exciting to explore, and one of the most difficult in which to select a winner. A number of new names have begun to rise in the past year, and six of them are up for this honor.

Brent Cobb might be the next big thing in the more traditional realm of country music; later this year, he's scheduled to open several shows for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill‘s Soul2Soul Tour and will be out on the road with Chris Stapleton, for Stapleton's All-American Road Show. Stapleton's 2017 summertime trek also includes two more New Artist of the Year nominees as special guests: Brothers Osborne, who recently took home Vocal Duo of the Year at the 2017 ACM Awards, and Margo Price, the winner of the 2017 American Music Prize.

Other candidates in the New Artist of the Year category for the 2017 Golden Boot Awards include Maren Morris, who won New Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2017 ACMs and opened on Keith Urban'Ripcord Tour in 2016, as well as Aubrie Sellers, who released her debut album, New City Blues, in 2016 and went out on the road with Miranda Lambert, for Lambert's Highway Vagabond Tour, earlier this year. Additionally, there's Brett Young: His self-titled debut album, released in February, is already making a splash with the No. 1 single "Sleep Without You," and Young will be touring this summer with Lady Antebellum, on the trio's You Look Good World Tour.
