This Grand Junction bank knows how to treat their customers right! Don't you just love it when Grand Junction businesses offer complimentary services like this?

This is what you'll find at a downtown Grand Junction bank. Your eyes don't deceive you, that is in fact a Keurig coffee machine, accompanied by a wide selection of those little K-Cups. Personally, when it comes to coffee, I'm more about quantity than quality. I'm fine with the stuff that comes out of the coffee pot.

Why do I appreciate this so much? Well, there are a couple of reasons. First and foremost, it is very nice and greatly appreciated by clients waiting in the lobby to meet with their lender.

Secondly, I have bruised feeling after a handful of incidents from my younger days. My early career included a number of years spent touring with a Country/Rock band. There are some pretty tough neighborhoods out there when you're a long-haired Country picker touring the continent in a van.

During the summer of 1996, we pulled into a gig in Kerrville, Texas. The town itself is awesome. The motel we were put up (not awesome) had just undergone a remodel, including all new furniture. During our check-in, the motel clerk quickly picked up on the fact we were a band. After we paid for our rooms, we were informed there would be a one-hour wait before we could check in. During that hour, employees of the motel took all the new furniture, including the TV, out of our rooms, and replaced them with old furniture they had kept in storage.

Obviously, they came to the conclusion we were a band, and would ultimately trash the place. In reality, we were probably the most non-Rock n Roll band on the planet, and really only wanted a place to sleep.

Okay, there's my little story about how I got my feelings hurt 20 years ago. Perhaps this is part of the reason why I'm so delighted when somebody, or more specifically, a business, makes nice gestures such as complimentary coffee pictured above.

From my point of view as a customer, while it is more than likely I won't even use the service, it is greatly appreciated. I was already happy with this bank as it was, but this new addition makes me appreciate the business even more. In reality, I have yet to get a cup of coffee, even though I've been to the bank at least a dozen times since they added it.

Note to businesses: While complimentary services such as these do cost money, they are greatly appreciated. My vet, tire store, and eye doctor all have something similar. While I don't typically take advantage of their hospitality, it never goes overlooked.
