Thanks to the efforts and honesty of a Grand Junction resident, a heartbroken man has been happily reunited with his property. Following a five-day search, man and tablet are together once again.

Here's a story you've probably heard before. Chances are, you can relate. Local keyboardist and entertainer Hugh Plumleigh was enjoying a delicious cup of coffee at the Trailhead Coffee Bar and Cafe on Monument Road in Grand Junction. Upon leaving the coffee shop, he placed his Samsung Tab3 and Samsung Note 2 Smart Phone on the hood of his car. He then drove off, forgetting that the Tablet and the phone were still on the hood.

Upon reaching his house in downtown Grand Junction, Plumleigh realized his phone and tablet were amiss. He quickly issued a statement on social media:

Did anyone find a Samsung Tab3 and or Samsung Note 2 smart phone Wednesday Morning somewhere between The Trailhead Coffee Shop on Monument Rd and 3rd and Main in Grand Junction? I left it on the hood of my car and drove off from the coffee shop. Feeling really stupid. Thanks message me if you can help.

In a situation like this, one assumes the poor devices held on to the hood of the car as long as they could, ultimately falling off somewhere between point A and point B. Images of technology-based roadkill come to mind.

As it turns out, there is a happy ending to the story. Following a five-day search, Plumleigh received word from a friend of a friend the tablet had been found in excellent condition. Where was it? The tablet was near the parking lot at Trailhead Coffee. The Samsung Note 2 Smart Phone is still M.I.A.

Just how awesome are the people of Grand Junction? Consider the following:

  • Someone searched to find the items - AWESOME
  • Upon finding the tablet, it was returned - AWESOME
  • Person and technology reunited after five days = AWESOME

There are many communities in this country where that tablet would have been a goner. In some towns, had someone found it, that thing would have been in their backpack, purse, or whatever, and would have never been seen or heard from again.

Right on, Grand Junction! This is the good stuff. Thank you to those who participated in the search. Special thanks go to the person who found and returned the merchandise. This is another example of why Grand Junction is such a remarkable place to live.
