Man Missing In Gunnison River Identified As Grand Junction Man

This is heartbreaking. The man who jumped into the Gunnison River Tuesday without a life jacket has been identified as a resident of Grand Junction.

59 year-old Rick Beaty reportedly jumped into the Gunnison River near Whitewater Tuesday without a wearing a life jacket. Fellow boaters say that was the last they saw him.

Multiple boaters and emergency responders searched for the missing man on Tuesday evening with the search resuming on Wednesday. Searchers in boats and and swimmers in the river covered a 2-3 mile area east of the Whitewater boat ramp.

Signs of Rick rescuing himself have not been found and Deputies will continue to patrol and search the area daily.
