While Plastic Bags are being banned in some states, others are using plastic bags to make something useful. Kim Carney says it takes about 500 bags to make one mat; she can make them as long as you like. There are many people that just do not want to sleep inside and these matt's would make it much more comfortable than the cold hard ground.

I love re-purposing items to make something more useful and using the bags to make a waterproof matt is certainly ingenious. I love making wool mittens out of old sweaters. What have you re-purposed?
