Legendary Classical and Country bassist and composer Joe Allen will bring an extra level of expertise and prestige to the judging panel at this year's Country Spotlight. Allen, whose recording history covers decades of hits from the biggest stars in the business, will be sharing his knowledge and insight with performers competing this week to win the prize of performing at Major Mortgage Country Jam and recording time at Aspen Leaf Recording Studios.

Over the years, you've heard Joe Allen's compositions as performed by Glen Campbell, Don Williams, Barbara Mandrell, Crystal Gale, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Gene Watson, Merle Hagard, and even the band Warrant. His bass playing credits include "The Essential Johnny Cash 1955-1983," Neal Young's "Lucky Thirteen," Emmylou Harris' "Portraits," Don Williams' "Volume 1/Volume2," and Waylon Jennings "The Ramblin Man."

Joe Allen will be one of three judges at this Sunday night's round of KEKB's Country Spotlight, coming to Cactus Canyon at 7:30. Allen may return for future rounds, but regrets he will not be able to judge for the Country Spotlight finals on May 19th.
