Those of us who wished for good weather for the Joe Diffie concert Saturday night had our wishes come true. Good weather, good country music, and good country listeners! This was a great finale' to this year's Bud Light Pork and Hops Challenge.

I got to meet some great KEKB listeners Saturday afternoon as I was working our Townsquare Media tent. The weather was not as cooperative and the crowd seemed a little lighter than years past on a Saturday afternoon, it was still a great time, and some good eats!

Joe Diffie had a killer intro using some clips of his own songs. Unfortunately, and just being honest here, Joe's voice did not match the quality on those records. Ok, they are not really records, but you know what I mean. Joe seemed to slur his words at times and some of the notes appeared off, but he was still a fun entertainer.

In fact, when Joe came out for his encore he apologized for his voice not being what it might have or should have been. There were times when it was the crystal clear tones we are used to from Joe, especially when he played a tribute to Johnny Cash and sang the really low notes. I also heard him say to his band at one point "how does that song start?"  And they gave him the lyrics.  I hope he does not head the way of Elvis in his latter days.

Joe's band was spot on and were very polished musicians, Diffie mentioned that his steel guitar player had won a Grammy, and he sounded that good.

I love to watch people and study people, that's what I do in my other job, so it was fun to watch the crowd. Joe interacted with two young girls on separate occasions and it was well received.
