Several of Colorado's premier winter events are this month!

So you don't ski, that doesn't mean you can't have fun this month. Several of the biggest and best winter events are coming up and most don't require much more than showing up.

ULLR FEST- All you need is a Viking hat and willingness to consume mass qualities of beer and/or cocktails and you're good-to-go! This annual Breckenridge festival, in honor of the Norse God of Winter, is days of parades, bonfires, the World’s Longest Shotski competition, comedy, bike racing, a film fest, and ice skating. The party gets starts tomorrow January 9th and continues through the weekend.

WINTERSKOL- Is the town of Aspen's tribute to winter now in its 67th year. It's 4-days of fun stretched across all four mountains. There's something for everyone including, snow sculptures, fireworks, a cool torchlight ski down Aspen Mountain, a doggie fashion show, fat-bike snow races, après ski parties, and much more! This party is this weekend too starting Thursday, January 10th and continuing through the 13th.

INTERNATIONAL SNOW SCULPTURE CHAMPIONSHIPS- Its back to Breckenridge the weekend of January 21st through the 20th for the 29th annual International Snow Sculpture Championships. Teams from around the world will be in Breckenridge hand-carving 20-ton blocks of snow into enormous, amazing, mind-blowing works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools. No power allowed! Teams work countless hours over the five days transforming downtown Breckenridge into an outdoor art gallery!

OURAY ICE FESTIVAL- Every year Ouray becomes the ice-climbing center of the universe. This festival celebrates, what seems to me, is the insanity that is ice climbing. I will be watching from a safe distance as expert ice climbers ascend the ice cliffs. They'll battle it out for prizes and bragging rights. There are clinics for all skill levels, demos of the latest ice climbing gear, apparel, great food, live music, and dance parties. This event is the weekend of January 24th through the 27th.
