The word is out that J.J. Abrams might not be directing Star Trek 3 due to scheduling conflicts with his other project, Star Wars Episode VII. Many fans are concerned that Abrams won't be at the helm of the next Star Trek feature. Is this really a bad thing?

As far as I'm concerned, the 2009 Star Trek was lame, and the followup, Star Trek: Into Darkness, was a disgrace. All I can say is, "Bon Voyage, J.J."

Am I alone in my opinion? Apparently not.

Most of us are very much aware that the new Star Trek films were not made for the Star Trek fans, but rather for the general public, in hopes of creating a new generation of Star Trek fans. That having been said, there is still such a thing as canon.
