Is Facebook Ruining Your Relationship?

I want to know - how important is Facebook? I have a friend who is having a major issue with his girlfriend. She was looking through all his Facebook pictures and found an old picture of a him hugging a girl. The picture was taken 5 years ago in another state- and way before he even met his current girlfriend. She's mad because he won't delete it. Should he delete the picture just because she wants him to?

It's funny because my buddy is barely on Facebook anymore and totally forgot about the picture. He's not even friends with the girl anymore, plus they never even dated. His current girlfriend is all over Facebook and takes it pretty seriously.

I also have another friend who completely deleted his Facebook page because his girlfriend kept getting jealous of the girls he was 'friends' with on Facebook.

Is Facebook really that important to life and to relationships?

I Googled "Facebook break-ups" and according to prevention.com, one third of divorce filings in 2011 contained the word "Facebook". Has Facebook made it easier to connect with others and at the same time help ruin other relationships? Guess so.
