Detours on I-70 you need to be aware of starting Monday, July 11.

If you travel through Glenwood Springs, you will have to make some adjustments. Because of the new pedestrian foot bridge being constructed over the highway and the Colorado River, traffic at night will be detoured.

KKCO News has a more detailed story, but here are the basics:

  • Beginning 8 p.m. Monday night July 11, ALL east bound and westbound traffic on I-70 will be rerouted to east Sixth Street in Glenwood Springs. The route will be near the Yampah Vapor Caves. It will run from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • In addition, the Grand Avenue Bridge will be closed from 10 p.m.  until 6 a.m. Monday July 11 through Thursday July 14. You will have to use Eighth Street to Midland to Exit 114, along with US 6 for access to I-70.

With the Grand Avenue Bridge out, it means that along the Colorado River, all boat launching points will be closed. This does include Shoshone, No Name and Grizzly Creek. These will remain closed Monday July 18 to Friday July 22 from 4 a.m. to noon.
