By now you've seen the assortment of four flavored Lay's potato chips lining the shelves at your local convenience store and fast food joints. Believe it or not, these chips are fighting for their very survival via a nationwide competition. Right now, Colorado favors the "West Coast Truffle Fries" variety. Only one flavor of chip can win the election, so if you want to see Colorado's choice take the nation, you'd better vote!

This all began as a promotion with Lay's designated the "Do Us A Flavor" campaign.  They ask you to cast your vote and become a "Flavor Ambassador."

So how did this all begin? Earlier this year, between January 20 and March 30, Americans over the age of 18 were encouraged to submit their ideas for flavors. The criteria needing to be met included:

  • Flavor's name
  • Up to three ingredients
  • The inspiration (up to 200 characters)
  • City and state of inspiration
  • Chip style (original, wavy and or Kettle Cooked)

Entries were submitted to a panel of judges. The competition was then narrowed down to the four finalists you now see before you.

So what's in it for the four finalists? Each finalist has received $50,000.00, and their flavor will remain available for purchase through July 15, 2016.

What's in it for the winner? The Grand Prize winner receives the greater of:

  • $1 Million dollars, or,
  • %1 of the net sales of their potato chip flavor during the "sales period" of July 15, 2015, through July 15, 2016.

Have you voted? No need to hurry, you have the better part of a year to get it done (as if you don't have enough elections to worry about in the next year.) Do you want to keep the "West Coast Truffle Fries" as Colorado's leader? Be heard, be a "Flavor Ambassador."
