Rimrock Avenue in Grand Junction saw non-stop heavy rain Saturday night. Meanwhile, at my house on Orchard Mesa, not a drop. The distance between the two locations - 3.4 miles. How can this be?

Check out the video above. This was filmed Saturday night, a little before 9 p.m., near American Way (near the old Gene Taylor's, as you approach Warehouse 2565.) Water was so deep some cars were having trouble getting through.

Meanwhile, 3.4 miles away, not only was there no rain to speak of, there was no indication Mother Nature was even thinking about rain.

I probably wouldn't care if it weren't for the fact my lawn looks like garbage. I had my fingers crossed all week my yard would see some rain.

According to the United States Census Bureau, geographically speaking, the city of Grand Junction occupies a total area of 38.6 square miles. While that's nothing to sneeze at, in reality, it's not that large an area. How can weather vary so drastically over such a small area?

UPDATE: Now that I've complained about the lack of rain at the south east end of town, guess what?.... It rained all night last night (Sunday). Problem solved.
