Hear Kenny Chesney’s New Single, ‘All the Pretty Girls’
Kenny Chesney has released the next single from his latest album, Cosmic Hallelujah. Readers can press play below to listen to “All the Pretty Girls,” an upbeat celebration of the girl next door … and some of her predictable habits.
A rock-tinged tune, “All the Pretty Girls” takes a less-serious turn than Chesney’s recent “Rich and Miserable” music video and his socially poignant single “Noise.” The song is the fourth single from Cosmic Hallelujah, following Chesney’s collaboration with Pink, “Setting the World on Fire,” and “Bar at the End of the World.”
The lyrics of “All the Pretty Girls” chronicle the coming of age of the American teenager: “all the pretty girls” keep “all the lost boys” motivated and stirring up the dust in small towns.
“All the sheriffs said, ‘Kid, you better slow down’ / All the preachers said, ‘It’s the devil’s playground,” Chesney sings. “I wonder if they knew they were wasting their breath / All I ever heard was what all the pretty girls said.”
“All the Pretty Girls” is a throwback to the old-school Chesney energy that his fans can’t seem to get enough of. Written by Nicolle Galyon, Tommy Lee James and Josh Osborne, the song was an automatic “must-record” when Chesney listened to it.
“When I heard it, when we made this record, just the whole chorus of that song, I thought about my connection with the audience, and I thought about the energy we have onstage,” Chesney tells Taste of Country. “I think about all the love and passion that those fans out there — we call ‘em No Shoes Nation — I think about all the energy that they throw back at us. I thought about that a lot when I was making this record, especially “All the Pretty Girls,” because I just know that that’s going to make the show even better.”
