During a recent appearance on the A Prairie Home Companion radio show, Kacey Musgraves shared an unreleased song called "Butterflies."

Readers can press play below to hear Musgraves' performance of "Butterflies," from the Jan. 21 episode of A Prairie Home Companion. Before performing the song, Musgraves told the crowd that she'd "never played this one before."

"I wrote this about the week after that I met my fiance -- my now-fiance," Musgraves added. The song begins, "I was just coastin' / Never really goin' anywhere / Caught up in a web / I was gettin' kinda used to stayin' there / And out of the blue / I fell for you ..."

"Now you're lifting me up / 'Stead of holding me down / Stealing my heart / 'Stead of stealing my crown / Untangled all the strings 'round my wings that were tied ...," Musgraves sings in the chorus of "Butterflies." "Now I remember what it feels like to fly / You give me butterflies / You give me butterflies."

Musgraves is engaged to singer-songwriter Ruston Kelly; he proposed on Christmas Eve in 2016, at Musgraves' childhood home, in Golden, Texas.

Musgraves last released an album, Pageant Material, in 2015. Kelly’s songs have been recorded by artists including Tim McGraw and the Josh Abbott Band; as an artist himself, he released his debut single, “Hurricane in My Head,” in 2016.
