Just a two-hour drive and you will find some amazing places to ice fish.

If you are ready to brave the weather you can find some fish to catch within a two-hour drive from Grand Junction. Right now it's the prime time to get out there and cast your pole deep into the water. Now through February, you will find Snake River cutthroat trout in most of the frozen lakes atop Grand Mesa, rainbow trout in the Vega Reservoir, yellow perch in the Rifle Gap Reservoir and kokanee salmon in the Blue Mesa Reservoir.

Vega State Park is located on the edge of Grand Mesa and is a favorite spot for snowmobilers and ice fishers. For more information on ice fishing, you can call 970-487-3407
