I grew up using a party line. This meant you had to wait for the neighbor two doors down to shut up and quit gossiping with Madge about what the Jones' were up to before you could get on the phone to call for an ambulance. We now live in a society where kids have a cell phone before they're even old enough to pull the binky out of their mouth.
