In case you had not noticed, the city of Grand Junction has some absolutely terrific public parks. They look attractive and inviting, and are well-kept, thanks to the Parks Department staff. One of the most beautiful parks is Duck Pond Park at the corner of Highway 50 and Unaweep.

Duck Pond Park is not the biggest park in the city, but it's bigger than  you might think when you see it as you drive by. You really can't see the entire park from the road. It has a covered pavilion, modern restrooms, a very nice play area for children, a stream running through it, and plenty of room for the kids - or grown-ups for that matter- to run around and play park games.

I am sure it gets some good use, but most of the time when I drive by  I don't see a lot of people in the park, which leads me to believe that most people don't know how cool it is. For $45 you can reserve the pavilion which features four tables and two grills. This is definitely one of the nicest parks in town.
