A major Grand Junction street has been closed due to a not-so-major sink hole. 1st Street, just South of North Avenue, has been closed, and may remain closed all day.

Last night's rain caused a minor sink hole on 1st Street. A section of 1st Street, just South of North Avenue, is closed in both directions. According to the City of Grand Junction, detours may remain in place throughout the day.

So, while it's obvious this does not constitute a major catastrophe, it does make on a little curious; just how bad can these sink holes get?
