Sydney Danielle White was arrested by the Grand Junction Police Department on a charge of child abuse resulting in death.

20-year-old Sydney Danielle White, was arrested after a social worker at Denver Children's Hospital in Aurora notified the GJPD on September 16 that an 11-month-old girl, Angel Lane Place, had arrived at their hospital from St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction with head trauma. The child was not expected to survive.

Detectives learned that Angel was in White's care who was serving as a foster parent.

On September 12, White told investigators that she accidentally dropped Angel on the floor which resulted in a minor cut to Angel’s lip and a bloody nose.

White also told detectives that on the morning of September 15 Angel was screaming and she couldn’t get her to stop and she described shaking the baby. White said the baby became lethargic and wouldn’t wake up, but that later she appeared to be doing better.

White later took the baby to St. Mary’s Hospital when Angel’s right side became stiff and she was unresponsive.

Angel went to Children’s Hospital that same night, where she later died on September 17, where the coroner found additional head injuries.
