High Ground is a documentary detailing the adventures 11 veterans, one of which is from Western Colorado, and one Gold Star Mother, as they made their way up Mt. Lobouche in the Himalayas. A free showing of High Ground is coming to the Avalon Theatre in this Friday, November 20, at 7 p.m.

Chad Jukes, a local vet who participated in the climb, will be at the Avalon Theater when doors open Friday evening at 6 p.m. Prior to the showing of the documentary, Jukes will be at Summit Canyon Mountaineering from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. to sign mini-posters from the film.

The showing of High Ground was arranged by the Grand Junction Veterans Health Care System. The screening of the movie is free and open to the public. Costs associated with bringing the film to Grand Junction were covered by local businesses and veterans services organizations.

A silent auction hosted by Summit Canyon Mountaineering will be held on Friday, with proceeds going towards Juke's trip to Mt. Everest in 2016.
