Grand Junction Schools On Lockdown After Mesa County Sheriff’s Deputy Shot

Several Grand Junction schools are on lockdown after a Mesa County Sheriff's deputy was shot near the 500 block of Fruitvale Court.

Shortly after 11:00 this morning, Mesa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun. One deputy was shot after making contact with the suspect.

The deputy was transported to the hospital. The extent of the deputy's injuries are unknown at this time.

The suspect has been taken into custody.
