This Grand Junction resident learned that you shouldn't run out in front of cars and try to jump them.

Last night (July 6) around 8 p.m., 30 Road and the I-70 Business Loop became gridlocked after 28-year-old Christopher Eraker, of Grand Junction, was hit by a car after apparently trying to play chicken.

Witnesses told deputies Eraker ran in front of the car and apparently tried to jump over the car. He didn't make it since he smashed the windshield and drove his leg through the glass.

The occupants of the Mazda Miata were distraught but otherwise reported no injuries.

Deputies arrived on-scene to find Eraker being taken care of by some witnesses and was transported to an area hospital.

Eraker is suspected of breaking out a bus rear window with a metal pole and damaging the window wipers on the same vehicle, attacking, punching and striking an adult male, all in the area of 30 Road and I-70 Business Loop before his attempt to frogger a passing car.

He was arrested and booked into jail on charges related to assault, felony menacing, criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and jaywalking.
