Grand Junction enjoyed a pleasing mix of sun and rain over the weekend. I've been driving up and down Highway 50 on Orchard Mesa for 35 years, and have never been treated to this.

I get a kick out of weird mixtures of weather. The rain was pouring Saturday afternoon, August 5. At the same time, though, the evening sun was shining through. Rain clouds were centered over the valley, allowing some parts, namely the west end of the valley, along with Mt. Garfield, to receive uninterrupted sunlight.

Put it all together, and you get an interesting view while driving down the road. I couldn't resist getting a little video. Obviously, it's past time for me to clean the inside of my windshield.

The National Weather Service predicts we will continue to see rain through Tuesday, August 7. After that, we should see partly cloudy skies with high temps back in the lower 90's.
