Grand Junction's Open Burn Season is now open. Here's what you need to know.

From the City of Grand Junction website, here are the requirements for you to follow as the 2016 Burn Season begin. Beginning with the $25.00 burn permit.

I also found this story on KKCO News, about what local Grand Junction Fire Departments are telling it's citizens when it comes to the do's and don'ts to make sure burning is done legally and safely.

The most important things to remember, from the GJFD website and the KKCO story are the following:

  • Daylight burning only
  • Must have permit
  • Adult must be at fire, with permit, at all times
  • Some way to properly extinguish fire must be easily accessible
  • Keep wind and red flag conditions in mind
  • 50 feet from structures and fences
  • NO tires, tree stumps, leaves, lumber scraps and house trash.
