Could it be a new World Record? Not sure about that, but it will be an awesome attempt for a great cause.

Beginning May 3 at midnight, Mike Tofel will begin an endeavor that could take him into the history books. That will be the start of an epic bike journey across Rim Rock Road on the Colorado National Monument. Not once, not twice, but 28 times back and forth!

Why 28 times? Well, Mike is calling this venture 'Ascending Everest' in reference to Mt. Everest which stands at 29,029 feet. That approximately equals the distance of 28 times across the Monument. Basically, he will be biking the same distance as Everest stands. He's hoping to complete the mission in 20 hours, but there really will be no time limit.

No, he's not crazy. Well, maybe a little, but he is doing it all for a great cause. The project is raising money and awareness for 'at risk youth' programs here in Mesa County. Mike is hoping to get these kids to experience more of the great outdoors.

It all begins May 3 at midnight and if you want, you can show up and cheer him on.
