The Mesa Country Central Library is hosting a mini comic con this Saturday in honor of Free Comic Book Day, and you should most definitely attend. If free comic books aren't enough to convince you, then here are five solid reasons why you should attend.

The Mesa County Library is hosting an event complete with workshops, presentations, costume contests, and even a documentary screening.

Here are five reasons why you should most definitely plan to attend:

  • It's your first chance to wear your sci-fi costume someplace besides Lincoln Park or your basement
  • You can spend the day hanging out with like-minded enthusiasts
  • Get your photo taken with a 501st Legion Storm Trooper
  • It's good for all ages
  • The event is FREE, and FREE is pretty hard to compete with

Please note, this is a free "mini" comic con, celebrating Free Comic Book Day. William Shatner will NOT be making an appearance, nor will Mark Hammil, or for that matter, Spider-Man.

The event kicks off Saturday, May 2, at the Mesa County Central Library at 443 N. 6th in Grand Junction. Workshops run from 10AM to 2PM. with the costume contest and parade at 2PM. The PBS documentary Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle will be shown at 2PM.
