First Female To Get Football Scholarship Is Headed To Colorado
Becca Longo, a Kicker with Basha High School in Chandler, Ariz. has just made history.
Longo, 18, from Chandler, Ariz., is the kicker for Basha High School. Should I say was the kicker? Now she is the kicker for Adams State University in Alamosa, Colo.
Becca signed a letter of intent to the Divison II school last week. That makes her the first female to receive a scholarship to play football at Division II or higher NCAA school.
She started seriously kicking her sophomore year in high school. That's when she decided to send out highlight reels of her kicking to schools all over. Adams State was one of those schools. That's when the head football coach, Timm Rosenbach took notice.
Adams State's offensive coordinator, Josh Blankenship went so far as to visit her in Chandler. After that visit, Longo traveled to Alamosa to visit the campus. She fell in love with it. Now, history has been made. Good luck, Becca!
