Do you study martial arts? How about the kids? In your opinion, where's the best place to study in the Grand Junction area?

First off, let's define martial arts. According to Wikipedia:

Martial arts are codified systems and traditions of combat practices, which are practiced for a number of reasons: as self-defense, military and law enforcement applications, mental and spiritual development; as well as entertainment and the preservation of a nation's intangible cultural heritage.

With that definition in mind, I'm looking for a studio teaching skills beyond sparring. Nothing against MMA, but that's not the discipline I'm inquiring about.

Do you study at a school where the curriculum includes history, lineage, awareness, and self-defense? Do you know of schools teaching the full spectrum of the arts?

Looking online, it seems as if martial arts academies and dojos abound, even here in Western Colorado. There are so many it's hard to tell where to begin. Obviously, one could attend a class and meet with the instructors.

First things first, though; where to begin. Take a look at the list below. Are you familiar with any of these Western Colorado schools? Which do you have experience with? Which one would you consider the best?

Cast your vote. You can vote for more than one school. If I missed a particular school, please write them in so they can be added to the list.
