CMU Choirs to present eclectic Fall Concert

CMU Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Monte Atkinson, will host a Fall Invitational Concert in the Moss Performing Arts Center Robinson Theatre on Thursday, October 15th at 7:30pm. Three ensembles directed by Dr. Atkinson, Director of Choral Activities, will perform.

CMU Concert Choir will give a preview of three of the works they will be performing the state Music Education Convention in January in Colorado Springs. Chamber Choir, which is made up of 27 select singers, will give an eclectic program of Romantic and contemporary pieces. Pianist Misty Sothers accompanies both groups. In addition, Vocal Chords, a tight 8-voice vocal jazz ensemble, will perform a cappella jazz pieces and standards with a jazz combo accompanying. Area jazz vocalist/pianist Michelle Woodrich will debut with Vocal Chords as their new pianist. Finally, CMU Women’s Choir will perform under the new direction of Dr. Graham Anduri. Anduri and his wife, Stephani, are new members of the CMU Choral/Vocal Faculty.

Tickets for the Fall Choral Invitational concert are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, faculty/staff and $5 for students. They are available by calling the Box Office at 970.248.1604.
