The Colorado Mesa University Art Gallery presents 2014 Road Roller, an exhibition of giant prints created by Art Department students and faculty and Palisade High School students.

On October 21, the plaza at Colorado Mesa University was transformed into an open-air print studio as artists used road roller machinery to print woodcuts and collagraphs on cotton fabric and paper. The road roller was generously loaned by Asphalt Specialists & Supply, Inc. of Grand Junction. In the weeks leading up to the event, Art Department students and Palisade High School International Baccalaureate students incised their designs on wood panels with both hand and power tools. Typography students in CMU's graphic design program prepared raised collagraph plates by gluing various materials (ribbon, felt, found objects) to wood panels and then coating them with acrylic medium. The completed prints include both single-artist and collaborative images, some as large as 20 feet.

The Colorado Mesa University Art Gallery is located at 437 Colorado Avenue in Grand Junction, CO. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 12-5 p.m. and admission is free. On Friday, December 5 there will be a public reception from 7-9 p.m. which will include a wine tasting generously donated by Carlson Vineyards.
