Do you enjoy coffee? Would you like an opportunity to discuss Grand Junction's future with its City Manager? Your chance is coming soon.

You are invited to join City Manager and Councilmember Phyllis Norris for coffee and conversation on Tuesday, October 23, at 2 p.m. Simply make your way to Kiln Coffee Bar.

Another guest, Grand Junction Police Department Chief Shoemaker, will be on hand as well. What a great opportunity to express concerns and discuss our community's future.

First things first - where is Kiln Coffee Bar? You'll find them at 326 Main Street. According to their official Facebook page, Kiln Coffee Bar is:

A craft coffee bar featuring Colorado's best coffee roasters.

I regret I haven't been there before. I'll have to try them out.

At a glance, this appears similar to the various "Coffee With A Cop" events frequently hosted around Grand Junction. Basically, you show up, drink coffee, and ask questions. No speeches, no agendas, and aside from the cost of the cup of coffee, no expense.

Here are my top five reasons why you should attend:

  • No speeches or agendas, just questions, and answers
  • The coffee is always good
  • It's a chance to ask questions in an informal setting
  • It’s an informal opportunity to express what's on your mind
  • It’s a great opportunity to connect with local law enforcement and city planners

I strongly encourage you to participate. I've been to many similar functions in Grand Junction, and they're always worth it.
