The 2016  tree lighting in downtown Grand Junction will be highlighted by performances of choirs from Palisade High School.

The lighting of the tree Friday, November 18 at Wells Fargo Bank on the corner of 4th and Main officially kicks off the holiday season in downtown Grand Junction with musical entertainment and the arrival of Santa Claus.

This  year's Christmas tree is a Blue Spruce from Hice Orchards near Cory.

Entertainment begins at 5:20 as folks gather for the event. This year, the musical entertainment is being provided by the Palisade High School choirs Aria, and Popular Acclaim.

The Grand Junction Fire Department is planning to get Santa off the roof of Wells Fargo with their big ladder truck. Kids will have a chance to explore the big truck.

The arrival of Santa is expected just after 6:00PM and KKCO 11 News will broadcast the appearance of Santa and the lighting of the tree and all of the lights in downtown Grand Junction.

Following the lighting of the tree, Santa will visit with the children one-on-one and there will be candy treats for all the children.

It is looking like we will be having some Christmas-like weather with a change in the western Colorado weather pattern happening this week, so you will want to dress warm and bundle up the kids. It's a special night that people really seem to enjoy each year, so come on out and get into the holiday spirit if you aren't already.
