Dierks Bentley debuted "Woman, Amen" on Ellen on Thursday (Jan. 18), and it was a bit like taking in a sermon.

The first single from his new album was inspired by his wife, and he was in the moment, raising his hands to the sky and getting down on his knees as he thanked God for her.

With memorable singalong "whoa-oh-ohs" throughout the song and a distinct rollicking beat that recalls Mumford & Sons, an almost clean-shaven Bentley adequately got his gratitude across on "Woman, Amen."

"Every night I should be on my knees / Lord knows how lucky I am / I’ll never say it near enough / Thank God, for this woman, amen," he sings on the chorus.

As his performance came to a close, Bentley looked relieved as he pointed to DeGeneres. Clearly moved by his song, her response of, "Thank God for you, amen," seemed fitting.

Bentley recently announced that "Woman, Amen" will be the first single off his forthcoming studio album The Mountain. He discussed the song during a social media video Q&A with fans.

"Family is always inspiring me," he says. "I think the first single shows that. It's more about life and living, and that feeling of not just being alive but living and going for stuff. That's what the overall album is about."

"I knew I wanted to make a record that touches on the west a little bit, where I'm from," he further explains. "I was fortunate to be asked to play the bluegrass festival in Telluride and I was on stage and I felt this amazing energy coming out of the mountains up there. There's something about being in that landscape that really struck me in a musical way."
