The town of De Beque, Colo. will be the first town in Mesa County to open a retail marijuana shop.

After a majority vote in favor of recreation marijunana, De Beque gave the OK to Kush Gardens to open up shop in the small town in western Colorado.

Jim Roberts, operations manager of Kush Gardens, told KJCT 8 that he hopes the business will be up and running by the beginning of December. They are waiting on building compliance regulation to be met.

Kush Gardens hopes to win over the town of De Beque by working with residents and showing them the positive economic benefits recreational marijuana will bring to town.

Roberts also told KJCT 8 they'll do whatever it takes to get the business open to public stating:

We've put a lot of work and time and energy into this movement and whatever we have to do to get to that point of opening will do.

Kush Garden, along with any other retail business that wishes to open in De Beque, must follow special conditions set by the town. This includes everything from lighting specifications to landscaping requirements.

One other retails shop has an applications in process, but they're just entering the planning and zoning phases.
