That was smoooothhhh. Country Jam Day 1 is in the bag, and it was an excellent kickoff for Grand Junction's premier concert event. Let's take a look back at Thursday, June 14, 2018.

Events began to unfold early Thursday morning when we gave out the last two pairs of 4-day General Admission passes. We went to caller #99, and then immediately followed with a second giveaway. Both winners made their way to the studio in a matter of minutes to collect their prize.

This Jam started per norm with people slowly drifting in. Yes, there was a handful standing at the gate hoping to be the first in the festival. Typically, Thursdays start off a bit quiet.

Before long the openers took to the stage and festivities were underway. Thursday's lineup included:

  • Annie Brobst
  • Sasha McVeigh
  • Trent Harmon
  • Josh Kelley
  • Brett Eldredge

There were some big lines for meet & greets. Did you get a chance to backstage with a Country Jam artist? If you did, here's the link to access your photos.

After enduring temperatures in the upper 90's, the audience was treated to a cool, and at times breezy, evening. Trent Harmon put on a great show. Josh Kelley put on a great show. During Kelley's performance, I was backstage watching the tech crew as they attempted to secure lights and rigging during a particular windy moment.

Shortly before taking the stage as Thursday's headliner, Brett Eldredge stopped by our media tent to chat. I've enjoyed the opportunity to hang out with Eldredge many times over the last few years. He's an incredibly nice guy and something of an adrenaline junkie.

Following our brief chat, he took the stage, where he, along with his crew, put on a fine show. As he said during his discussion, he was totally jazzed about returning to Western Colorado.

Well, day one is in the can. I'm just about to head out to the ranch for day two. If Thursday was any indication, the Friday portion of the Jam is going to be outstanding. See you there.
