A Colorado State Trooper has been killed while on duty.

An 11-year-veteran, Trooper Cody Donahue was investigating an accident on the northbound lane of Interstate 25, near Tomah Road, when he was struck and killed by another vehicle. The accident happened Friday (November 25) around 1:50 p.m.

According to FOX31 in Denver, a commercial food truck hit Trooper Donahue as he was helping at a separate accident. The truck has been detained while the district attorney's office is working on charges for the driver and a criminal investigation is underway.

Trooper Donahue was outside of his vehicle wearing a green reflective safety vest at the time of the accident.

Cody Donahue is survived by his wife and two daughters. There has been a GoFundMe page set up for his family.
