This number is horrifying. 604 deaths on Colorado roads in 2017.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has just released it's 2017 findings. And it is sobering, to say the least. So far in 2017, 604 people have died on our roads. Believe it not, that is actually less than last year. In 2016 there were 608 deaths. Either way, these numbers have got to come down.

A spokesperson for the CDOT stated that there was an increase in the number of fatalities from drivers and passengers not wearing seatbelts or wearing them improperly.

How on God's green Earth, in the year 2017, are we NOT wearing our seatbelts? Are you kidding me?

The CDOT also released a county-by-county tally for the state of Colorado. El Paso County has the most road fatalities with 73. Adams, Weld, and Denver counties follow.

Where does Mesa County fall? Compared to other counties, our numbers seem innocent enough, but still, at 13, that is too many deaths here in Mesa County.

Slow down. Put your seatbelt on. Put the phone down. Schedule more driving time.
