If you're interested in learning the basics of Turkey Hunting, one of the fastest-growing hunting activities in the country, check out this one-evening clinic here in Grand Juntcion this Wednesday.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the Western Slope Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation have teamed up to host a clinic:

Where: At CPW's Hunter Education Building at 711 Independent Avenue in Grand Junction
When: Wednesday, March 20 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.

Kathleen Tadvick, the education coordinator for Colorado Parks and Wildlife says,

Turkey Hunting 101 is very popular because it has great information for novice hunters, expert hunters will teach the basics in a comfortable setting and without too much technical jargon.

According to a recent survey turkey hunting is attracting many new hunters including an increasing number of women. Colorado Wildlife managers say there is plenty of opportunities for novices to learn how to hunt turkey.

This course will cover:

  1. turkey calling basics
  2. field tactics
  3. information about local turkey populations
  4. tips for hunting on public land
  5. and firearm safety

Participants will also get a chance ask questions and participate in discussions with veteran hunters.
