This should come as no surprise since the Denver Broncos are in the Super Bowl, but Colorado is one of the top Super Bowl party states. So, what about the Carolina Panthers home state, North Carolina?

According to Evite, The Carolina Panthers have a slight edge over the Broncos when it comes to Super Bowl Parties planned.

However, there are other states who's teams aren't in the big game that are planning more parties than either Colorado or North Carolina.

Evite started tracking people planning Super Bowl parties on December 28, 2015 and found, as of February 4, these are the states with the most Super Bowl parties planned at home.

  1. California - 6,009
  2. Texas - 2,759
  3. Illinois - 1,614
  4. North Carolina - 1,359
  5. Colorado - 1,337
  6. Virginia - 1,216
  7. New Jersey - 1,209
  8. Florida - 1,103
  9. New York - 1,084
  10. Georgia - 1,065

These numbers are expected to increase significantly, especially in Colorado and North Carolina, with fans planning last minute parties.

As for why the home states playing in the game aren't in the top positions,  who really knows, but here's a possible explanation. California is hosting Super Bowl 50 which will be played in Santa Clara.

Why does Texas hold the second spot for the most Super Bowl parties? The only explanation I can come up with is they still have an affection for Texas native, former Houston Texans and now current Denver Broncos head coach, Gary Kubiak.

As for the rest of the top ten, there are probably good reasons, but why waste time figuring it out when we've got Super Bowl parties to get ready for.
