A Colorado Mesa assistant football coach is getting the opportunity to enjoy some real NFL  coaching experience.

According to a release from CMU, Coach  Willie Ponder received the Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship and will have the chance to work as an intern with the Philadelphia Eagles this summer.

Ponder will be reunited with current Eagles quarterback coach John De Felilipo, who coached Ponder when he played for the New York Giants. Ponder played in the NFL for five years with the Giants, Rams, and Seahawks,  and joined the CMU staff in 2016  to work with wide receivers.

Ponder will rejoin the Mavericks on August 11 as they prepare to defend their RMAC title. It's pretty cool that CMU receivers get to be coached by a former NFL player - and now a coach that will have NFL coaching experience as well.
