A Fort Collins family is grieving this morning after a father dove into the ocean in Oregon to try to save his son but drowned.

The son, aged 17, was riding a boogie board when the wave hit him and he disappeared. His father dove into the water to try and find his son, but he could not find him and drowned.

The boy's stepmom called 911 and shortly thereafter rescue crews took to the air and got into the water to try and find the two. Ultimately the helicopter that was dispatched spotted the father floating in the water. CPR was attempted but was not successful. As of this morning, the son's body had not been located. Rescuers are continuing to try and find the young man.

No names have been released as yet.
