A dog is the only suspect following a knife attack in Hudson, Colorado, which left its owner needing emergency medical treatment.

Last Wednesday, September 21, Celinda Haynes needed stitches in her left forearm following a knife attack by her one-and-a-half-year-old Chesapeake Bay retriever, Mia.

What's the scoop here? Has Mia been running around with a bad crowd, leading her to a life of crime? Was the attack in response to Mia's owner not giving her a doggie treat? Did Mia tell her owner "give me a Beggin' Strip or I'm gonna stick you"?

It seems that Mia, like many dogs, just loves getting into things. According to Chanda Stroup, Haynes' daughter, "Mia likes to grab whatever she can to get people to play with her."

In this case, Mia's toy of choice was a paring knife she grabbed off the kitchen counter. How exactly did the vicious attack occur? Things took a turn for the worse when Haynes attempted to take the knife away from the dog. Do the math:

One-and-a-half-year-old playful dog + paring knife = MAJOR BOO BOO

Viewer beware! This video, courtesy of The Denver Channel, shows the injury Haynes received. While it's a long way from the most horrific thing ever witnessed by man, it will give you a case of the heebie-jeebies.

Upon arrival at the hospital, did the medical staff believe Haynes' story about being knifed by the dog? No. Did they think it was a matter of domestic violence? Yes. Fortunately, Haynes' husband had an airtight alibi.

To think, I got mad at my dog for stealing a piece of bread off the counter top. Word to the wise - if you have an energetic dog who insists on getting into things, you might want to be cautious what you leave lying around. Fortunately Haynes didn't leave a .22 on the counter.
