Coin-Op Washer Bandits Clean Out Cash in Machines
Some thieves decided coin operated washing machines weren't just for cleaning clothes. They were also a good place to make a cash withdrawal and it probably wasn't for change to do laundry.
Crime Stoppers reports that sometime between Saturday, May 14 and Friday, May 20 someone broke into the laundry room at the apartment complex at 1238 Bookcliff Avenue.
Once inside, the suspects forcibly removed coin boxes from two washing machines. The damage and money lost in this crime is over $2,700.
If you know someone who suddenly, without reasonable explanation, had a lot of spare change and you believe they may have gotten it from this theft, contact Crime Stoppers of Mesa County at 970-241-7867 or make a report through the Crime Stoppers website.
