You've heard the tales of people getting arrested for flipping off law enforcement officers, but is it legal?

We'll apparently it has REALLY happened but a federal appeals court has ruled that it's not illegal to give an officer the finger.

The ruling comes after a man and his wife were arrested for flipping off an officer who was using a radar gun at an intersection in New York.

The couple sued the two police officers involved and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit ruled that the, "ancient gesture of insult is not the basis for a reasonable suspicion of a traffic violation or impending criminal activity."

Good news for those of you that like to express yourself with sign language!
