The Grand Junction Police Department has arrested a man in connection with Tuesday night’s armed robbery of a North Avenue Burger King.

Officers arrested 22-year-old Deone Tyrone Patterson after finding him near 29 3/8 Road and Bunting Avenue.

When officers located him, Patterson was wearing boots, jeans, and carrying a gym bag that matched all descriptions given by restaurant employees. The bag contained money in denominations similar to what was stolen during the robbery.

Patterson was booked into the Mesa County Jail on charges of first degree kidnapping, aggravated robbery, felony menacing, and theft.

Tuesday’s robbery occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. at the North Avenue Burger King. Four employees were inside the restaurant at the time.

The employees told investigators that Patterson allegedly forced his way into the back of the restaurant, held them at gunpoint while demanding money, and then forced them into a freezer. About five minutes after the suspect left the premises, one of the employees was able to get out of the freezer and called 911.

None of the employees were hurt in the incident.
