Would you vote for or against this type of proposal here in Mesa County?

A small town in Wisconsin is taking a new approach to bullying. Should Mesa County and District 51 get behind an idea like this?

Shawano Wisconsin, a small city about 30 minutes west of Green Bay, is taking a new approach to bring bullying to a halt. They are penalizing the parents. The City Council passed the measure two weeks ago. It is part of a new anti-bullying campaign with parents possibly having to pay fines for their children's behavior.

The complete story can be found here at WLUK-TV in Green Bay.  But basically, here is the low down.

  • First, the parents will be warned by police if their child is involved in bullying
  • Parents then have 90 days to correct child's behavior
  • If it is found that the child is still bullying after 90 days a fine $366 is issued
  • Two offenses will equal $681

If this were on a ballot for the District 51 schools of Mesa County, how would you vote? Do we need to involve more police action into our children's lives?
