Blake Shelton Stands Up for Garth Brooks
Shelton's tweet comes just hours after his ex-wife Miranda Lambert joined her boyfriend Anderson East in criticizing Brooks for lip-syncing his performance of "Ask Me How I Know" at the 2017 CMA Awards. In the press room after the show, Brooks admitted to mouthing to a studio track, explaining that his voice was less than 100 percent after 10 concerts in 12 days.
"Hey @garthbrooks," Shelton tweets. "I still love you" He added #hero and #respect hashtags to the end, and within minutes, a thousand had liked the tweet in solidarity.
Our online poll currently shows 42 percent of readers believe Brooks should have canceled the performance and 39 percent feel he should have lip-synced, as he did. The rest argue that he should have performed with whatever voice he had left.
Brooks returns to the stage in Spokane, Wash., on Thursday night (Nov. 10) and has shows scheduled through the weekend. His North American leg of his tour lasts through December.
Taste of Country has reached out to both Brooks and Lambert for additional comment.
