The bicyclist involved in a collision with a pickup in downtown Grand Junction on Monday (June 29) has died.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, the collision occurred at the intersection of 7th Street and Ute Avenue. Reports indicate the bicyclist was riding on 7th Street through the intersection when he was struck by a pickup travelling on Ute Avenue.

Police didn't say if the man riding the bicycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. So far, no citations have been issued in the crash pending completion of the investigation.

The area where the accident occurred is a popular route for cyclists as 7th Street connects downtown Grand Junction with the Colorado River Trail system.
